Good morning from the lake!

Today started out a bit warmer which is what we needed after these past few chilly days! We had lemon bread for breakfast and then went back to change and get ready for the morning.

In morning classes, swimmers continued swimming and boaters continued to work on their skills. Up on the A-field everyone enjoyed their second to last day of sports. It had been a great session with lots of great weather for basketball, soccer, tennis and archery too!

As a traditional pre banquet dinner we had sandwiches. Tuna salad, egg salad, PB and J and delicious sides were all enjoyed at our noon time meal. They were delectable and were enjoyed by everyone. We had an extended rest hour today which gave everyone a much needed rest. After general swim we had 4th period. It was super windy today so it was a great time for boaters to demonstrated their proficiency in boating and canoeing in windy weather.

We had lots of tower jumpers for activity period today! Since swimming has been testing the past few days, a few swimmers that just passed into level 4 got to jump off the tower today. It was super exciting and perfect timing in case we get some storms tomorrow.

Afterwards, the LTs and Cookees went to set the tables for banquet and we all gathered to start the meal. The food is Thanksgiving style with turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce and more. The kitchen staff and cook did an amazing job making this meal, and every meal, and we are all very thankful for their hard work! Later we had ice cream for dessert, campers got to choose between cookie dough and cookies and cream, both amazing options.

Banquet celebrations were our evening program today. We celebrated all the campers by giving them their year awards for the number of years they’ve been at camp. Then we watched a slideshow of all of the pictures from the session, from talent night to track meet to classes, there were so many great moments.

It was a bit windy tonight so we did not get to have our candlelight service outside but we still reflected on our two weeks here inside the lodge. Throughout the night we sang songs and we finished with Amazing Grace as each camper and staff received a candle. As we lit each candle and reflected on the night it signifies the end of our night. We blew out the candles, sang goodnight songs and headed to bed silently.

I cannot believe tomorrow is our last full day here!

Wednesday, July 23rd

Happy Wednesday everyone!

The sun and chilly weather woke us up this morning, but everyone was happy to get their day started. We had French toast and melon for breakfast and then got right on with cabin clean up and camp duties for the day.

In morning classes, swim classes started to test their skills to see if they passed to the next level, as did boaters. In arts and crafts everyone fitnjed to make little gifts for their secret sister or work on bracelet or paintings to take home with them.

For dinner today we had Texas hash and pears for dessert. Definitely a top five meal at camp! Rest hour was much needed after a busy morning but everyone was eager to get right back in the water for general swim. The wind was perfect for seniors sailing today during 4th period and cankers got to practice swamping and capsizing a canoe.

We had lots of activities today such as tower jumping and basketball, but lots of campers were practicing for their talent show performances for evening program tonight! After activity period everyone got ready for Eat Out since kitchen staff had their day off. Everyone got to eat their pretzel bun deli sandwiches or PB and Js on the docks with their cabins. It was perfect weather to eat outside this evening too.

For evening program we had a talent show! This evening program is super exciting because it is cool to see all the talents and acts that everyone puts together today. See you tomorrow for banquet!

Tuesday, July 22nd

Good morning!

Today we woke up chilly as the temps dropped below 60 last night. It was a perfect night to sleep and we enjoyed a 30 minute sleep in. The campers were super tired after an eventful weekend so extra sleep and chocolate chip bread for breakfast made everyone happy :)

Today was our Frog Island swim for our Level 6 swimmers and 14 year olds in Water Safety! This is a super cool opportunity for these campers to swim all the way across the lake to the a shallow area to explore the lake and test their swimming skills. After taking a small rock to remember their trip they swam back and got to sign their name in the Frog Island record book which dates back many many years.

After morning classes we had ravioli and salad for dinner. It was super warm and delicious meal for a slightly cool day today. We had butterscotch pudding for dessert and then headed to rest hour. The sun was still shining bright during general swim so everyone enjoyed their time and headed off to 4th period. We announced secret sister today so everyone had time to make a gift for their secret sister in arts and craft.

After lots of activity during activity period, such as jumping off the tower, gaga ball, taking out paddle boards and sunfish, everyone got ready for supper. We had tacos tonight with a newer dessert, sugar cookies. They were super delicious and a perfect end to the day.

Later for evening program was LT Carnival! This evening program is super special because all of the LTs from this session put together a carnival full of different games all based on a theme. This session’s theme was mermaids. All of the LTs put on a great skit and then had super fun stations. Campers enjoyed walking around going to Trident Fighting, Bubble Toss, Mermaid Makeover, Pin the Tail on the Mermaid and more!

We ended the night with popsicles and a few songs before heading off to bed.

Monday, July 21st

Good morning and happy Monday everyone!

The sun was shining bright this morning which made wake up after a hard and long day yesterday just a bit easier. For breakfast we had waffles with peanut butter and syrup, and oranges of course. Then campers got on to getting ready to go back to classes today.

With the beautiful weather today everyone enjoyed their morning classes being out on the lake or up on the A-field. Crafters got to continue what they have been making or even start new projects for the second week. After some free time, we had chicken tenders and pasta salad for dinner. For dessert we had sherbet which was perfectly refreshing.

After rest hour everyone got in the water for general swim and enjoyed free swim before heading to 4th period. All around camp everyone enjoyed their class time in boating, sports, and arts and crafts. Archery and tennis started again today which always is a fun switch up from normal sports class.

For activity period today there were lots of fun activities! Campers could make friendship bracelets, get their hair braided, jump off the tower, and play Gaga ball! Afterwards we enjoyed grilled cheese and tomato soup for supper. Then, one of my favorite desserts, chocolate chip bars, for dessert. For evening program today we played Pirates! The green and white teams split up to find each other’s treasure, hidden somewhere around camp, all while engaging in pirate gang battles by throwing “guns”. These guns where little flour pouches from old dishee rags. The game ended with the white team winning but only by 1 point!! It was a great way to get out all our energy before heading to bed.

See you tomorrow!

Happy Track Meet!!!!!

Today marks the middle of the session which means its Track Meet. All day campers will compete against each other, the green and white teams, in different events for points. It is a fun, energy-filled, exciting day!

For breakfast we had egg scramble which is perfect fuel for all the running, jumping and swimming we will have today. Campers went back to their cabins and started to get dressed in their green and white colors for the day. Hilltop, lakeside, and senior cabins compete against each other in the standing long jump, running long jump, and the softball throw.

It was a super hot morning so campers got to get in the water for a quick general swim before dinner today! It was a great way to cool off and have fun before our break in the activities. For dinner we had our traditional ham and noodles, with bread, corn, and green and white cake for dessert. Each camper got to have the color frosting for the team that they are on.

After a much needed rest hour, campers had the option to run the camp marathon. While not 26.2 miles it is a race between Hilltoppers, Lakesiders, and Seniors around camp and on the trails and finishes on main camp where everyone is cheering them on. It’s an optional race so it was amazing to see how many campers participated.

Next was our camp wide Team Triathlon! Campers split up into groups and each had a small part in this relay between green and white teams. Runners took the baton from the beginning of camp road, passing it to their teammates along the way, all the way to main dock where swimmers swam from raft to raft and then passed the baton to row boaters. Our rowers then rowed to canoes and more rowboats to made their way to Cook’s dock to more runners. Those runners ran all the way back to main camp to hand to two senior swimmers who finished the race with a long swim! It was super fun to watch and a great time to have everyone involved.

Afterwards we had swim races based on swimming level and after that it was time for Cookee Bell and supper! We enjoyed English muffin pizzas and chocolate pudding for dessert. A storm rolled in right at supper time so we sang songs and ate our dessert while the storm passed. While afterwards it was too wet to continue the games on the A-field, we had fun relays in and around the lodge and activity room. We had an obstacle course, block building competition, a relay with filling a pitcher of water using a measuring cup and skittle sorting. Time flew by and we ended the night with songs and snack.

Happy weekend from the lake!

It’s already halfway through the session, time has flown. We woke up to some sweatshirt weather this morning which felt amazing after the many days of heat this past week. We had cinnamon bread and orange juice for breakfast this morning which was delicious. The morning was just perfect for classes so our swimmers and boaters kept practicing and perfecting their skills.

For dinner today we had chicken Parmesan and spaghetti, personally one of my favorites. For dessert we had vanilla pudding with an extra treat of sprinkles today. The lake stayed warm and breezy for general swim and fourth period! Boaters got to go out on the lake, and then enjoy all the activities for activity period! There were water aerobics, corn hole, and gaga ball offered today!

Today is Saturday which means it is kitchen staff’s day off! So, for supper we had hog dogs, chips, and cookies for dessert. Campers got to eat around main camp with their friends which is a fun change from normal camp meals.

Afterwards, we played for King Dodge, another super fun dodge ball game up on the A-field for evening program. Of course, we ended the night with quick dip! See you for track meet tomorrow!

Friday, July 18th

Welcome to Friday everyone!

Today was such a beautiful day all around camp! We woke up to blueberry bread and strawberries for breakfast and got ready for the day. Classes out on the lake had shared smiles and laughs all around. The water was super warm but still refreshing. Boaters even got to dunk in the water before heading out on their row boats, canoes, and sailboats.

After morning classes we had beef barbecue sandwiches, peaches for dessert and then headed to get our rest for the day. Campers and staff were super ready to get in for general swim! We had plenty of time to play games, dive for rings, and swim with our friends. The wind was perfect for fourth period sailing and sailboats even went out for activity period. Campers also did yoga and played Gaga ball.

Later, for supper we had meatball grinders, a definite favorite from the reviews of the meal this session. We had chocolate pudding and churros for dessert. Campers were a little tired at supper today but we got ready for Step It Up for evening program! It was a race between two teams to earn beads and bring their robot (a counselor) back to the A-field from their location around camp.  There were mini games around the A-field that everyone enjoyed.

Campers headed to bed after a great game, ready for the weekend at camp.

Thursday, July 17th

Happy Thursday everyone!

The sun kept on shining this morning but the humidity died down a little bit which was a great start to the day. After breakfast of English muffins and cinnamon butter we got on to our morning classes. Like yesterday swimming and boating had perfect weather out on the lake. On the A-field and inside, sports and arts and crafts continued on with new and fun games and crafts.

For dinner today we had lasagna, salad, and baguette bread. Delicious! We had butterscotch pudding for dessert and then campers headed off to camp store. After much candy eating, letter writing, and napping during rest hour the campers all got to free swim during general swim. The wind picked up for 4th period boating which was great for our senior sailors. After that we had tons of campers jump off the tower and play volleyball during activity period.

Later we had chicken patties for supper, with chips, veggies, applesauce and apple crisp for dessert. Campers ate up for a game of garbage collector up on the A-field. It’s a super fun large scale game of handball and basketball combined. It was an amazing evening filled with lots of laughs and of course a quick dip.

Wednesday, July 16th

Good morning!

I can’t believe it’s half way through the first week of the session already! Today started off with the sun shining bright. This warm morning we had French toast and fruit for breakfast.

Afterwards campers headed back for cabin clean up and camp duties to help keep camp clean for all of us here. Classes were a blast today, especially swimming in the refreshing lake with this hot weather. Boaters this morning got to dunk their life jackets in the lake to keep cool too. In sports new groups of campers got to go to tennis and archery today to try something new only offered at camp.

For dinner we had meatloaf and mashed potatoes and then for dessert. Rest hour was much needed after a busy hot morning on the lake. Everyone got in for a general swim today, soaking up all this nice weather and refreshing water. Campers jumped off the tower, practiced their dives, dove for rings or even played mermaid with their buddies. For activity today there was lots of tower jumping, basketball playing and crafting in the arts and crafts room!

After activity period there was no cookee bell since today is the kitchen staff’s day off. So, every cabin put in their order for a deli sandwich or PB and J that gets made by camp staff. Then, campers go with their cabin to eat on all the docks around camp and by the waterfront. The pretzel buns are always a big hit.

After supper we played for Triad for evening program! It was a hit during boys camp so we brought back this game of three way soccer to get out all of our energy before heading to bed. But of course, campers enjoyed a quick dip to cool and dust off after a sweaty game. See you tomorrow!

Tuesday, July 15th

Happy Tuesday everyone!

This morning was a beautiful sunny morning :) We had cornbread, fruit, and orange juice for breakfast and then headed back for cabin clean up. Swimmers and boaters enjoyed this awesome weather on the waterfront during lessons. Up on the A-field sports took advantage of the sunny field.

Campers in arts and crafts cooled off in the lodge where they continued their art projects for the session. Friendship bracelets and painting have been super popular so far! For dinner today we had baked ziti and pears for dessert. Campers and staff loved this meal and enjoyed seconds and thirds before heading to rest up for the afternoon.

Campers picked out their favorite candy for rest hour and tried to rest up before general swim. The water was super refreshing so everyone enjoyed the time for free swim. This fun continued during 4th period boating, arts and crafts, and sports. After running around in sports campers had the option to jump off the tower for activity period. The LTs, the 15 year olds in Leadership Training offered yoga and bracelet making for activity period too!

For supper today was chicken melts, veggies, applesauce and chips. The fuel was much needed after a busy afternoon and in order to gear up for tonight’s game of Spies and Smugglers. Campers split into two teams and start on opposite sides of camp. The smugglers try to bring up little slips of paper with point values to the A-field, all while the spies are running to tag them and guess what pocket the paper might be in.

It was a super exciting and energetic game tonight! We ended with snack, songs, and vespers down by the waterfront. Afterwards campers went in for a quick dip to cool off and then headed to bed. See you tomorrow!

Girls Camp has Begun!

Happy Monday and happy first day of Girls camp!

Yesterday was a wonderful first day of camp! We welcomed 27 new campers to Camp Asto Wamah today, and are super excited for these next two weeks!

For supper yesterday, after the new swimmers got swim tested in the water, we had hot dogs, baked beans, applesauce, and brownies for dessert. It was a delicious first day meal.

For evening program, which is the nightly camp wide camp we play each evening after super, we played Medical War! Campers were split up with their cabin mates and played a dodge ball game trying to eliminate the other team while the “medics” on each team save those who got out.

The sun was shining all evening so we ended the night with a quick dip. Campers got to change into swimsuits and rinse off in the lake before getting ready for bed.

This morning marked the first full day of 1st Girls Camp and the energy was high today! For breakfast we had waffles with peanut butter, butter and syrup, with some oranges and orange juice. Afterwards campers went back to their cabins for clean up and to get ready for the first three periods of the day.

Hilltop, Lakeside, and Seniors rotated through swimming, sports, boating, and arts and crafts this morning.  Up on the A-field for sports class campers played a name game on the basketball court, and swimmers got to show off their skills in their first day of swim class. While the boaters did not get to go out today because we had to go over general small craft rules, everyone still had a fun morning.

For dinner, which is our biggest meal of the day held at noontime, we had Swedish meatballs, green beans, and mashed potatoes. For dessert we had peaches which were super refreshing. The weather was iffy today but the rain held off so that we could have a short general swim and 4th period. Archery and tennis groups were still able to go out and campers got to start brand new art projects.

For activity period today, which is free time for campers to hang out, play knock hockey and tetherball, take a shower, or the most fun option: attend one of the actives held by the counselors that day. Each day, different counselors offer different activities for the campers. Today we had friendship bracelet making, jumping off the tower, and card games.  It was a little rainy but the campers didn’t seem to mind at all.

For supper today we had grilled cheese, tomato soup, applesauce and chips! One of my favorite meals here at camp was a great second supper of the session. We had chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert which were magnificent!

We played capture the flag up on the A-field for evening program today. Campers got to explore a little part of the woods today and battle against different campers for the flag. We ended the night with a quick dip after lots of running around today, so that campers can go to sleep easier and wake up ready for the day tomorrow!

Friday, July 11th

Happy Friday everyone!

A bit of a sad morning today as we begin wrapping up the session! Cinnamon bread, a favorite, was served for breakfast today. Campers soaked in the delicious meal and then returned to cabin clean up to start packing up all of their things.

Swim and boating testing continued with lots of  swimmers and boaters who passed their levels and will be celebrated tonight at campfire! Everyone wrapped up their arts and crafts projects today to take home and spent their last minutes up on the A-field.

For dinner today we had Sheppard’s Pie and then sherbet for dessert. One of my favorite meals at camp, everyone went up for seconds and thirds! Today was warm and sunny so it was super refreshing. After rest hour everyone got in for general swim and campers who passed their swimming levels got to enjoy a new swimming area for the first time.

Later, new level 4 campers got to jump off the tower for the first time. And sunfish and the Hunter took advantage of the windy day to play pirates out on the water. A battle between five Sunfish boats and the Hunter! For supper we had pulled pork and pick up for dessert. So campers got to choose from left over cake, pudding, apple crisp and more!

Just before evening program campers packed up their remaining belongings and headed to the lodge to watch the slideshow of pictures from the session! Then we headed to the council ring to enjoy smores by the campfire and announce all sorts of awards. Year awards went first, kitchen staff awarded a best manners award, boating and swimming awards were announced and finally track and field awards from each event were given out. Overall a super fun evening with lots of song singing and celebrating. The night ended with a candlelight service as a time to reflect on the past two weeks at camp. While it was too windy to set them out on the lake yesterday and today we still gathered in a circle together. As a camp tradition, the boys headed to bed silently and soaked in this bittersweet moment of camp.

I hope you enjoyed hearing about these camp adventures this past two weeks! I had a blast writing this everyday!

Happy Thursday!

Good morning! Today is sadly our second to last day of classes. We had English muffins with cream cheese and jelly for breakfast, and of course orange juice and hot coco. We had an awesome day down at the waterfront. Tons of swimmers perfected their strokes and got tested and the Superstar and Water Safety classes got to go out on paddle boards!

For dinner today we had sandwiches which is the traditional dinner before banquet. Lots of PB and J, egg salad, and tuna salad sandwiches were made and enjoyed. Campers savored their second to last trip to the camp store and rested up for general swim!

After fourth period we had a little rainy afternoon but campers still enjoyed card games in the lodge and badminton by the flag pole. A fun filled afternoon ended with banquet! The traditional Thanksgiving themed meal on the second Thursday of the session. The food was delicious as always and campers loved it too!

Later, we played three-way soccer for evening program so that the boys could expend their energy since it had been so rainy the last couple of days. The weather was perfectly cool for sleeping after a quick dip to close out the night!

See you tomorrow for the last day!

Wednesday, July 9th

Happy Wednesday everyone!

While last night was super rainy the weather mostly cleared for breakfast today. We had French toast and cantaloupe for breakfast. It sprinkled a little bit during classes today but that didn’t stop swimmers and boaters from performing their best!

For dinner today we had Texas Hash. Which is a delicious rice, veggie, and meat dish that all the campers loved. After pears for dessert campers headed to camp store and back to their cabins for rest hour.

The sun came out just in time for general swim! Campers were eager to get out in the water to play and practice for their swimming tests. Fourth period was still able to go out for boating and the rest of the day was a blast despite the rain.

We had sandwiches for eat out tonight, on delicious pretzel buns! Even though we had to eat inside it was still a great meal. For evening program we played a new game with small mini games theme from the show Squid Games. We had the glass bridge, red light green light, and others. The campers loved this new addition to the rotation as a new alternative for an inside evening program.

See you tomorrow for banquet!

Tuesday, July 8th

Good morning!

Today we woke up with some heat and humidity in the air but that didn’t stop us! After enjoying cinnamon bread, orange slices, and cereal for breakfast we headed off to our classes. With the heat that rolled in today everyone was super excited to get in the water and cool off. Campers started to perform their swimming and boating skills to be tested for the next level by the end of the session.

After everyone finished their morning classes we headed to the lodge for some ravioli and chocolate pudding. Both campers and staff had no complaints for this delicious meal.

Unfortunately a bug thunderstorm rolled in right after rest hour so we weren’t able to get in the lake for general swim. However, we played board games and cards to pass the time. Poker, UNO, and Apples to Apples were big hits today. The stormed cleared for a bit so seniors were able to get out on the lake for boating, Hilltoppers continued their projects, and lakeside played Gaga for sports! Activity period was filled with lots of indoor games since the weather stayed pretty wet. But campers still had plenty of smiles and laughs on their faces.

Later, we had tacos for supper! And for dessert we had another camp favorite… Apple crisp! For evening program the LTs (15 year olds in leadership training) put on their carnival. All around the flagpole and lodge are we had fun relays and games that were all video game themed. The LTs put a lot of work into this event and it was super awesome. Campers had a blast and headed to bed before more rain came through camp.

Crossing our fingers for better weather!

Monday, July 7th

Happy Monday!

Somehow it is already the second week of boys camp. Time is flying by! The morning started off great with waffles, orange slices and hot coco for breakfast. Then, campers headed off to morning classes where they worked with their teachers and classmates on their swimming and boating skills. Up on the A-field campers played basketball, soccer, and football and enjoyed the wonderful weather.

Just before dinner it a storm started to move in on us but we enjoyed for chicken tenders dinner today and we had raspberry sherbet for dessert. After rest hour the sun came back out for general swim and 4th period. Hilltoppers continued to make bracelets and paintings in arts and crafts!

For activity period today there were many different card game options up in the lodge. The Hunter also went out for activity period and the lake had some great wind for the campers. Later for supper we had meatball grinders and chocolate chip bars for dessert. A delicious meal!

Afterwards, since the A-field and woods were pretty wet still we played Murder by Night for evening program! Campers split up into groups led by the LTs and went around to counselors around camp interviewing them. Our beloved Grace was killed last night and they had to investigate which counselor did it and what their weapon was. It was a super fun and silly game that the campers enjoyed. Then we had snack, sang songs, and headed to bed.

Track Meet Sunday!

Happy track meet!

Today is the middle Sunday of the session which means it’s Track Meet! We had cereal, oranges slices and eggs for breakfast. Then campers got to switch to a top or bottom bunk during cabin clean up.

When morning classes started, the green and white teams of each area split up this morning to compete in three events. The standing long jump, the running long jump, and the the softball throw. The captains  and counselors cheerleaders of both green and white led their teams to a fun and eventful morning. Afterwards we had the 50 yard dash across the A-field! It was a tight race for hilltop, lakeside and seniors!

After a super quick general swim to cool off, campers headed out and got ready for dinner which was a camp tradition of ham and noodles! After fueling up, we enjoyed rest hour and campers rested for the Camp Marathon and Camp Triathlon. While the marathon is an optional run on the paths of camp, we had great competition in hilltop, lakeside, and seniors. Then for the Camp Triathlon each camper had a running leg, boating, or swimming leg. Campers raced against each other and despite the windy day the boaters made it across the lake and to the final runner legs and swimmers. The white team pulled ahead in the end but green put up a great fight.

Afterwards, the fun continued in swim races for aquarium, intermediate, and deep water. It was a great way for campers to cool off in the water after a long hard day of track events.

Later we had English muffins pizzas for supper with churros for dessert. We ended the night with team relays up on the A-field. Hilltop green, lakeside green, and seniors green, competed against their counterparts in soccer relays, an obstacle course, ping pong balancing races and more to earn final points for their team.

Campers headed to bed ready for some much needed rest. See you tomorrow!

Saturday, July 5th

Good morning!!

Today was another great day and the weather was amazing! We had cinnamon bread for breakfast and got ready for our classes! Swimmers are refining their strokes so next week they can perform their best in swim tests. Everyone in Arts and crafts is working on painting and lots of bracelet making. Rainbow loom bands have been super popular this session.

For dinner today we had chicken Parmesan, chips and applesauce, and then had a great general swim where everyone enjoyed the water! Later after boating, arts and crafts, and sports for the afternoon, the hunter set out to sail and campers got to enjoy a beautifully windy day. Other campers joined counselors on main dock for yoga and and quick dip afterwards.

Before playing King Dodge, another fun rendition of dodge ball, we had cook out! The kitchen had their day off for supper so we brought back an old tradition of cooking our hot dogs out on campsites. Each cabin paired up with another and set out to have hot dogs, chips, bug juice and cookies. It was super fun to do something different and enjoy time in nature for supper.

The night ended with plenty of tired campers, all eager and excited for track meet tomorrow.

Go green! Go white!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!

Today was a beautiful bright and sunny day and campers enjoyed every bit of it! We had English muffins for breakfast and then got to our daily cabin clean up. Afterwards for classes swimming enjoyed a warm lake and boating had awesome weather for practicing their rowing and paddling skills. Arts and crafts, as always, was busy and campers had fun making new crafts to take home.

For dinner today we had beef barbecue sandwiches, similar to Sloppy Joe’s which were so delicious. After rest hour campers had a blast in the water as the day got hotter. For fourth period the wind was slower so sailors got to practice their capsizing skills.

Campers took advantage of some new activities being offered for activity period. There was juggling, jumping off the tower, and playing new card games. Later we had chicken enchiladas for supper which was a new meal and a big hit! We ended supper to get ready for evening program, Pirates!!

Campers dressed in all black and long pants and searched for the other team’s treasure while trying to engage in “gun battles”. Each camper was given a little sac of flour and ran around trying to get each others guns. A camper favorite game finished up at the flag poll where we offered sundaes for dessert. A 4th of July special treat!! We sang so many songs, had vespers and were able to catch some of the fireworks before everyone headed off to bed.

See you in the morning!

Thursday, July 3rd

Arrrrrrrghhhhh! Ahoyyyyyyyyy!!!

This morning we were invaded by pirates! Captain Mus and Captain Tashe declared that today camp would partake in a BOOTY BATTLE!!!!! We were given the challenge to help Captain Mus and Captain Tashe search and steal back the treasure. Mus and Tashe were once fellow sailors, but ever since Mus spent all their money on a mustache comb the pair sailed on Columbia Lake separately and Tashe took their treasure.

Breakfast continued as normal with blueberry bread and cereal. We had our morning classes and and then headed up for lasagna! One of everyone favorite meals was a success. We had butterscotch pudding for lunch and headed to rest hour to rest up for the booty battle.

After rest hour everyone went in the lake for general swim and sailors were able to enjoy a windy lake for 4th period. Afterward everyone prepared at flagpole for the treasure battle. Everyone got a mustache and pirate themed temporary tattoos. Then campers split up to join either Captain Mus, or Captain Tashe and then search around camp for clues. Each clue had a challenge with it such as untying a human knot or lining up in alphabetical order without talking. The last clue led to the A-field. Campers commenced in a dodge ball battle while also trying to collect pieces of “booty” in hopes to defeat Team Mus or Team Tashe.

Campers then discovered that it was Captain Beard who took the treasure from Mus and Tashe. He revealed himself at the end of the battle and the campers stole the treasure back from him. The boys enjoyed chips and candy from the treasure chest. And then headed off to supper!

We had chicken patties and apple crumble for supper and dessert. We ended the day with board games, songs and vespers since a storm rolled in during the evening. Campers loved their pirate adventure filled day and went to sleep ready for bed!
