Happy Monday and happy first day of Girls camp!
Yesterday was a wonderful first day of camp! We welcomed 27 new campers to Camp Asto Wamah today, and are super excited for these next two weeks!
For supper yesterday, after the new swimmers got swim tested in the water, we had hot dogs, baked beans, applesauce, and brownies for dessert. It was a delicious first day meal.
For evening program, which is the nightly camp wide camp we play each evening after super, we played Medical War! Campers were split up with their cabin mates and played a dodge ball game trying to eliminate the other team while the “medics” on each team save those who got out.
The sun was shining all evening so we ended the night with a quick dip. Campers got to change into swimsuits and rinse off in the lake before getting ready for bed.
This morning marked the first full day of 1st Girls Camp and the energy was high today! For breakfast we had waffles with peanut butter, butter and syrup, with some oranges and orange juice. Afterwards campers went back to their cabins for clean up and to get ready for the first three periods of the day.
Hilltop, Lakeside, and Seniors rotated through swimming, sports, boating, and arts and crafts this morning. Up on the A-field for sports class campers played a name game on the basketball court, and swimmers got to show off their skills in their first day of swim class. While the boaters did not get to go out today because we had to go over general small craft rules, everyone still had a fun morning.
For dinner, which is our biggest meal of the day held at noontime, we had Swedish meatballs, green beans, and mashed potatoes. For dessert we had peaches which were super refreshing. The weather was iffy today but the rain held off so that we could have a short general swim and 4th period. Archery and tennis groups were still able to go out and campers got to start brand new art projects.
For activity period today, which is free time for campers to hang out, play knock hockey and tetherball, take a shower, or the most fun option: attend one of the actives held by the counselors that day. Each day, different counselors offer different activities for the campers. Today we had friendship bracelet making, jumping off the tower, and card games. It was a little rainy but the campers didn’t seem to mind at all.
For supper today we had grilled cheese, tomato soup, applesauce and chips! One of my favorite meals here at camp was a great second supper of the session. We had chocolate chip cookie bars for dessert which were magnificent!
We played capture the flag up on the A-field for evening program today. Campers got to explore a little part of the woods today and battle against different campers for the flag. We ended the night with a quick dip after lots of running around today, so that campers can go to sleep easier and wake up ready for the day tomorrow!
With love from Wamah,
