Happy Track Meet!!!!!
Today marks the middle of the session which means its Track Meet. All day campers will compete against each other, the green and white teams, in different events for points. It is a fun, energy-filled, exciting day!
For breakfast we had egg scramble which is perfect fuel for all the running, jumping and swimming we will have today. Campers went back to their cabins and started to get dressed in their green and white colors for the day. Hilltop, lakeside, and senior cabins compete against each other in the standing long jump, running long jump, and the softball throw.
It was a super hot morning so campers got to get in the water for a quick general swim before dinner today! It was a great way to cool off and have fun before our break in the activities. For dinner we had our traditional ham and noodles, with bread, corn, and green and white cake for dessert. Each camper got to have the color frosting for the team that they are on.
After a much needed rest hour, campers had the option to run the camp marathon. While not 26.2 miles it is a race between Hilltoppers, Lakesiders, and Seniors around camp and on the trails and finishes on main camp where everyone is cheering them on. It’s an optional race so it was amazing to see how many campers participated.
Next was our camp wide Team Triathlon! Campers split up into groups and each had a small part in this relay between green and white teams. Runners took the baton from the beginning of camp road, passing it to their teammates along the way, all the way to main dock where swimmers swam from raft to raft and then passed the baton to row boaters. Our rowers then rowed to canoes and more rowboats to made their way to Cook’s dock to more runners. Those runners ran all the way back to main camp to hand to two senior swimmers who finished the race with a long swim! It was super fun to watch and a great time to have everyone involved.
Afterwards we had swim races based on swimming level and after that it was time for Cookee Bell and supper! We enjoyed English muffin pizzas and chocolate pudding for dessert. A storm rolled in right at supper time so we sang songs and ate our dessert while the storm passed. While afterwards it was too wet to continue the games on the A-field, we had fun relays in and around the lodge and activity room. We had an obstacle course, block building competition, a relay with filling a pitcher of water using a measuring cup and skittle sorting. Time flew by and we ended the night with songs and snack.
