June Update

Welcome to Asto Wamah in June,At last June has arrived, the month of final preparations and anticipation!  Columbia Lake is just inches from being full, a great improvement over 2012’s low water level.  The woods are green and lush.  Hot days have arrived and all that is missing is the campers and staff.  The countdown begins! Today, the LTs completed Red Cross trainings they will need in order to take Lifeguarding in July.  It is a great group of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who will be making terrific contributions to Asto Wamah during their stay. This weekend, 3 staff members attended Ropes Training and others will take part in Archery Trainings in the weeks to come. During the last week of June, the staff will arrive for Staff Training.  This is an important time to review skills, discuss policies, recertify as Lifeguards and develop a strong team that will be able to confidently face the joys and the challenges the summer season brings.  We are excited to have this opportunity to make a positive and important difference in our campers’ lives. During these final weeks there will be more painting, cleaning and set up, every task focused on making camp ready for the coed campers who will arrive on June 30th and those who will follow throughout the summer.  We look forward to this 104th season at Asto Wamah. Parents, if you have any concerns about your child’s stay, please email or call so that resolution can be gained before arrival day.  We are looking forward to another wonderful summer at Asto Wamah.  An experience that will enrich all involved.

Always, Nancy Maclean 860-649-8614
